No ransom paid to secure release of 137 abducted school children–FG
The federal government says no ransom was paid to secure the release of 137 schoolchildren abducted in the Kuriga community, Chikun LGA in Kaduna state.
Mohammed Idris, minister of information and national orientation, Mohammed Idris, told State House correspondents in Abuja on Wednesday, that the federal government had vowed not to pay ransom to secure the release of abducted victims.
The 137 schoolchildren abducted from Kuriga, Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna State, who were released on Sunday, have arrived at the Government House in Kaduna.

The state governor, Senator Uba Sani, who made the disclosure on Sunday in a statement he signed and released to newsmen, commended President Bola Tinubu, and the Nigerian Army for their roles in ensuring the return of the abducted Kuriga schoolchildren.
The students from Kuriga’s Government Secondary School and LEA Primary School were kidnapped on March 7, 2024, and taken into the forest by thugs.
The kidnappers set a deadline of March 27, 2024, for the ransom payment and demanded N1 billion in exchange for their release.
