Pakistani army chief, U.S. secretary of state discuss Afghan peace process
Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken had a telephone conversation on Wednesday to discuss Afghan peace process, the Pakistani army said.
An army statement said matters of mutual interest, regional security situation including latest developments in the Afghan peace process and bilateral cooperation in various fields were discussed during the phone talk.
The Pakistani army chief said that Pakistan would always support an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process based on mutual consensus of all stakeholders, according to the statement from the army’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relations.
Blinken acknowledged Pakistan’s continuous efforts for peace and stability in the region and pledged to further enhance bilateral relations, the statement added.
