PDP makes overtures to APC Federal lawmakers
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is spreading out its overtures to All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers in the two chambers of the National Assembly luring them to realign with the Opposition party in the preparations for then 2019 general elections.
The opposition party was gathered to be throwing the carrot of automatic return tickets for the members of both the Senate and the House of Representatives if they defect to the PDP and abandon APC.
Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, representing Bayelsa East, was gathered to have claimed that Prince Uche Secondus, PDP National Chairman, gave him the order work for the return of former PDP members in the Senate.
Before now, chairman of PDP Board of Trustees, Alhaji Walid Jirin, had made passionate appeals to all those who left the PDP to return and join hands in rebuilding the country.
Several other PDP leaders, including the Chairman of the defunct national caretaker Committee, Alhaji Ahmed Makarfi, had also made similar appeals.
Meanwhile, at the weekend meeting of the PDP National Working Committee at Asaba, Delta State, Secondus had declared that the PDP is ready to wrest back power from the APC in 2019.
The PDP appeals are coming at a time the APC is going through deep internal crisis in several states where the lawmakers have been at loggerhead with the governors of their respective state.
