Plateau State Senator, Prof. Nora Daduut (APC Plateau South), has donated an ICT/E-library Center to a secondary school in her constituency to aid students in facilitating the registration of external exams, such as the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC), and the National Examination Council (NECO).

The school, Government Secondary school Namu, situated in Qua’anpan Lacal Government Area in Plateau Southern zone, is one of the largest school in the community.

Speaking during the donation on Thursday, Daduut appealed to philanthropists to also assist in rehabilitating and renovating public schools buildings that are dilapidated in all localities.

According to her: “It is in light of this that I resolved to do my part in fulfilling my dreams and commitment to give back to our people, especially the youths by facilitating the construction and equipping of the ICT centre.

“There is no doubt in the mind of anyone who is aware of events and happenings around the world that the need of Information and Communications Technology for socio-economic transformation and development is of great importance and cannot be over emphasised.

“It is no longer acceptable for anyone to be left behind by not being connected, or having access to the globalised world or society. This is because ICT provides opportunities in different strata of our lives.

“I am therefore proud to expose our senatorial district to the current trend in line with the national educational policies. This state of the art E-library rightly complements it and opens more opportunities for our terming youths to be gainfully engaged as workers or beneficiaries of it’s services”, Daduut said.

However, the lawmaker added that Nigerians must continue to commend the teachers who are saddled with the responsibility of modeling their children from the cradle, adding that the idea of inaugurating the ICT centre was to bake the children right from the cradle on computer knowledge.

Responding, the Executive Chairman of Qua’anpan LGA, Hon. Ernest da’a commended the lawmaker for constructing ICT centre in the school.

Represented by the LGA Supervisory Councilor for Social Works, Mrs. Rita Buba, the LG boss said: “I must say this is a beautiful idea, ICT is what all countries of the world are doing now.

“It is a good idea for the lawmaker to have put this together in making sure that the ICT centre is in our secondary school of this magnitude.

“So I am happy that it is in my local government. I urge the beneficiaries to use it appropriately, and do the needful”, Da’a said.
