Police arrest 2 kidnap suspects, rescue 4 victims in Delta
Police have arrested two suspected kidnappers and rescued four victims from captivity in Delta.
Acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Edafe Bright, made this known in a statement issued on Tuesday in Warri.
Bright identified the rescued victims as Solomon Otomierewo, Rukewe Urhiephroune, Ovwenu Augustine and Victor Orogunu.
Otomierewo and Urhiephroune were rescued on Monday, while Augustine and Orogunu were rescued on Sunday.
He said the duo rescued on Monday, are lovers abducted by four suspected kidnappers at Oghara in Ethiope West Local Government Area of the state, while on their way home.
“On April 19, at about 3.32 a.m., the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Oghara Division, CSP Jimoh Hassan, received information that one Otomierewo of Ibori Road Oghara and his girlfriend Urhiephroune were kidnapped by four armed men.
“They were returning to their house when the kidnappers blocked the victims’ unregistered Mercedes GLK car and took them to a bush along Koko Road.
“On receipt of the information, the DPO mobilised patrol teams, vigilantes and anti-cult operatives to the bush.
“The kidnappers on sighting the headlights of the police patrol vehicles abandoned the victims and ran in different directions. The police were able to rescue the victims unhurt.
“The victims’ Mercedes Benz GLK was later traced to Oviore near Isiokolo in Ethiope East LGA,’’ he said.
Bright also stated that the other two victims, Augustine and Orogunu were rescued at Ogor-Ivwreni Road, Ughelli North LGA.
He said that the police also recovered one Toyota Corolla car with registration number GBJ 73 FD, Delta, one Hyundai car with registration number WWR 180 PR, Delta and one Mercedes Benz 200E with registration number CL 193 ABJ, Abuja.
