Presidency 2023: Afenifere rejects Tinubu, endorses Peter Obi
A prominent pan Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, has expressed the rejection of the presidential candidate of the ruling All progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in the 2023 general elections. The prominent cultural association in the southwest rather endorsed the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, for the 2023 elections.
A reputable leader of Afenifere, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, on Yoruba Gbode, an online radio program, on Tuesday, expressed optimism of the leadership capability and competence of Obi, saying that the LP candidate has the ability to “rule independently”, asserting that Obi would not disappoint Nigerians.
He declared loss of confidence in Bola Tinubu of the APC, and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.
Adebanjo berated Tinubu for supporting President Muhammadu Buhari to the seat of power in exchange of personal interest to take over at the end of Buhari’s tenure. He was of the view that neither Buhari nor Tinubu loves Nigerians.
He argued that the southeast is also part of Nigerians and stakeholders from the Igbo land should be allowed to govern Nigeria.
According to Adebanjo: “It is only Peter Obi that can rule independently without the influence of these criminals in the government. Tinubu will only give continuity to Buhari’s incompetence.
“We know Peter Obi very well, that’s why we endorsed him. He will not disappoint Nigerians, let’s put tribal differences apart and vote the right leader in.
“Tinubu sold Buhari to over 200 million Nigerians for his own selfish interest of wanting to rule after Buhari. None of them loves Nigeria.
“Easterners are also Nigerians; they deserve to rule. I am sure Peter Obi will not subject himself to the northerners like Tinubu and Atiku would do if elected.”
