President Tinubu Swears in Dr. Abdullahi Usman Bello as Chairman of CCB
The appointment of Dr. Abdullahi Usman Bello as Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau marks a significant step in Nigeria’s ongoing fight against corruption. With a commitment to integrity and accountability, Bello aims to strengthen the Bureau’s role as a cornerstone in the nation’s anti-corruption efforts.
President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday officially swore in Dr. Abdullahi Usman Bello as the new Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) during a brief ceremony held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The swearing-in took place just before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, which was attended by most council members.
Notably absent from the meeting was Vice President Kashim Shettima, who is currently representing Nigeria at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Apia, Samoa. Other ministers missing from the session included Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy; Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development; Adebayo Adelabu, Minister of Power; Professor Joseph Utsev, Minister of Environment; and Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Following his swearing-in, Dr. Bello spoke to State House correspondents, outlining his commitment to tackling corruption through the CCB, Nigeria’s principal anti-corruption agency.

He underscored the critical importance of integrity and accountability among public servants and pledged to uphold the Bureau’s mandate.
Dr. Bello expressed confidence that, despite corruption being a pervasive global issue, Nigeria possesses the necessary systems and institutions to effectively combat it.
He emphasized his intention to focus on delivering the Bureau’s mandate, ensuring integrity, and preventing corruption throughout the country.
