Remains of 7-year-old murdered for money ritual exhumed; father, blind herbalist arrested
Onyishi Chidi knew where to go in Coal City, Enugu, when he got desperate to get rich quick.
And the instruction Okeke Eneokowor, the man who only sees in the spirit, gave him as the fastest way to wealth required he made a huge sacrifice: his son Chimdalu, seven years old.
Although he can’t see, Eneokwowor, in his 95 years on earth, must have heard many 36-year-olds like Chidi griping about their poor fate, and pleas to turn things around for them overnight.
They both wrapped up the killing, and agreed Chidi should report to the police his child was missing.
His report , however, removed the lid on the ritual killing, its purpose, and the herbalist.
Enugu police command spokesman ASP Daniel Ndukwe, said in a statement issued on Thursday in Enugu that the missing person report got to the police on October 22.
The police then arrested Chidi Nov. 6 .
Chidi confessed to the crime and led police operatives to Dental Avenue, Trans Ukulu, to arrest the herbalist whom he fingered as an accomplice.
“He also led police operatives and a medical team to a stream at Abakpa-Nike, Enugu, where the decomposing corpse of the minor was exhumed from a shallow grave,’’ he stated.
The blind man is a pastor, according to the police.
