Russian strike leaves Zaporizhzhia in rubble
Russia’s devastating strikes left the central Ukraine city of Zaporizhzhia in rubble in the early hours of Thursday. The Governor of the region lamented that the fatal attacks destroyed high-rise buildings and injured a toddler in the city.
The Ukraine had controlled part of the city in the outskirt of Zaporizhzhia region where the nuclear plant is located, which has been occupied by the Russian forces. There has been heavy bombardment of the site.
Rescue workers in hard helmets were sighted clearing rubble with their hands, searching for people trapped beneath the debris.
And firefighters were working to extinguish a blaze from a collapsed section of a building with pieces of jagged metal protruding.
