Sen. President Lawan vows to resist pressures to be a rubber stamp

The President of the Senate of the Ninth National Assembly, Ahmad Lawan, on Wednesday, vowed to resist pressures to be made rubber stamp in his leadership of the Upper Chamber of the federal legislature.

It was learned that the Senate President in an interaction with State House Correspondents after a visit to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Wednesday, promised that the leadership of the Ninth National Assembly will establish a working relationship that will endear the government to Nigerians. He dismissed speculations that the leadership of the National Assembly will be rubber stamp to the executive having been sponsored by the Presidency and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Lawan cautioned that appointees of government must perform optimally, adding that the National Assembly will provide the necessary support.

Senate President Lawan said he was at the Aso Rock Villa to thank the Vice President for his support and interventions during the contest for the leadership of the ninth National Assembly.
