Sex video leak sparks disciplinary action as FUOYE suspends two students
A new controversy has erupted at the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) as the institution suspended two students over their alleged involvement in the circulation of leaked sex videos linked to the embattled Students’ Union Government (SUG) President, James Iyanuoluwa Adio.
The university management announced the immediate suspension of the students in a statement published on its official website on Friday, describing the development as a serious misconduct capable of damaging the institution’s reputation.
The suspended students were identified as Alao Iyanuoluwa Odunayo and Olawale Abiodun Samuel.
According to the statement signed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) and Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tajudeen Opoola, preliminary findings indicated that the two students allegedly conspired to cyberbully Adio by publishing his private videos online after he reportedly failed to meet their financial demands.
The university alleged that the students deliberately shared the sensitive content on social media platforms and other online channels, an action it said amounted to cyberbullying and a violation of the institution’s code of conduct.
Professor Opoola noted that management strongly condemned the actions of the students, stressing that the university would not tolerate any conduct capable of tarnishing its image or undermining the values of the institution.
“The management frowned at the involvement of the two students in denting the image of the university,” the statement said.

While investigations into the allegations continue, the university directed the affected students to proceed on immediate suspension pending the outcome of the disciplinary process.
The institution further reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline on campus and ensuring that students adhere to acceptable standards of behaviour.
The latest development comes amid the ongoing controversy surrounding Adio, who had earlier been suspended from his position as SUG President over allegations of extorting students.
University authorities maintained that all parties involved in the matter would be given a fair hearing as investigations progress, adding that FUOYE remains determined to rid the institution of actions and behaviours capable of bringing the university into disrepute.
The incident has generated widespread reactions within the university community, with many students and stakeholders closely monitoring the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
