Three armed robbers on Lagos traffic in Police net
Three suspected notorious armed robbers operating at traffic spots in Lagos are now in police net as the Lagos State Police Command intensified its strategies to curb crimes and criminality, particularly traffic robbery in the state. The Lagos State Police Command modified its crime control and detection strategies in compliance with the directives of the inspector general of Police, Mohammed Adamu, in ensuring crime-free celebrations across the state, and other parts of the country.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, had in a statement on Friday, indicated that the three suspected traffic robbers were arrested at Agidingbi vicinity, Ikeja. The PPRO said the three traffic armed robbers were arrested at about 11.30pm last Tuesday by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in one of the Squad’s undercover operations in Ikeja metropolis.
The PPRO, Adejobi highlighted: “the suspects, on sighting the RRS operatives, took to their heels but were given a hot chase by the police before they were eventually arrested.
“During preliminary interrogation, the suspects confessed to have been terrorising and responsible for some traffic robberies and other crimes at Isheri, Ojodu, Berger, Motorways, Agidingbi, Ketu, Alapere, and Ogudu.”
The suspects were identified as Damola Ajewole – 17, Omotosho Seyi – 19, and Olanrewaju Sunday – 23; their operational motorcycle and weapons were also recovered by the police.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu, had ordered that the suspected traffic armed robbers be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Panti, Yaba, for proper investigation.
