Ugandan group claps for 3 hours to break Guinness World Record
A group of 926 people from the Phaneroo Ministries church in Kampala, Uganda, clapped continuously for 3 hours and 16 minutes to break the Guinness World Record for the longest applause.
The previous record was set in 2019 by Clark Stevens and The Festival of Awesomeness in the United Kingdom, who clapped for 2 hours and 5 minutes.
The Phaneroo Ministries group’s attempt was held on July 30, 2023, at the UMA Multipurpose Hall in Kampala. The event was livestreamed and monitored by observers from the Uganda National Bureau of Standards and the Uganda Basketball Federation.
The group’s leader, Grace Lubega, said that the purpose of the event was to bring people together in a spirit of thanksgiving and celebration.

“We are delighted to congratulate the Phaneroo Ministries church on breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest applause,” said Guinness World Records adjudicator Pravin Patel. “This is a truly remarkable achievement that required a great deal of teamwork and dedication.”
