UNFPA intervenes to prevent unwanted pregnancy in refugee camps, sensitises women in Borno IDPs camp on reproductive health
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Nigeria has intervened to prevent unwanted pregnancies, child health and immunization, in refugee camps. The UNDPA, thus, engaged in sensitization of Women in Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in Borno State, enlightening the women on health safety in crowded habitat.
The IDP women, in appreciation, expressed that they are now more enlightened on reproductive health issues, following the intervention of the UN Population Fund (UNFPA Nigeria).

Women at the Muna IDP Camp in Maiduguri, Borno State, had acknowledged that the setting up of the Integrated Maternal Healthcare Centre and Safe Space for Women and Girls in the camp has been a big relief for them and the host community.
One of the women at the IDP camp, Uwani Ali, was said to have admitted that the centre, apart from providing succour to victims of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), also helps in creating awareness on child spacing, routine immunization and dangers of early marriage among IDPs and host community.
According to her, “I am one of the beneficiaries of services offered at the centre. I am now an Awareness Officer and I go round to enlighten other women on reproductive health.”
The agency also provided mobile ambulance which takes pregnant woman
to hospital.
