Wike announces presidential candidate to support, commences campaign in January
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State at the commissioning of a flyover in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area on Thursday, disclosed that he will announce his preferred presidential candidate of another in January 2023, and subsequently commence campaign.
Wike had stated: “From January next year, I will campaign to my people whom they will vote for.
“So, all of you who have been in suspense, who have been saying all kinds of things, abusing me, wait. January is here.
“Not only will I tell them whom to vote, I will move from state to state and why they should vote for the person, nothing will happen.”
Wike and his allies, who include Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, who formed the PDP G5; and other PDP leaders – Chief Bode George, Prof. Jerry Gana, Chief Dan Orbih, former governors Segun Mimiko of Ondo State, Donald Duke of Cross River State, Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe State, Jonah Jang of Plateau State, among others, had excluded themselves from the presidential campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), following their agitation for the resignation of the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, after the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate.
