Woman, 52, in trouble for adopting stolen baby

Florence Ifeanyi, has landed in trouble after adopting  a baby in Lagos state.
The suspect who has been married for over 10 years could not withstand the embarrassment of not having a child of her own, and went to  adopt a baby boy.
She bought a three weeks old baby boy from an undisclosed source to satisfy her wish but the transaction turned awry as the person who supplied her the baby reportedly stole the boy from the mother. She is facing criminal charges before a Lagos court and has been remanded in prison custody.
National Daily learnt that the  mother of the baby (name withheld), has allegedly reported to police authors that her three weeks baby was stolen by an unknown person.
The incident happened at Idi-orogbo area of Ayobo in Lagos suburb where the suspect resides with her husband.
The suspect has been arraigned  after the police recovered the baby from her and could not produce the source of the adoption or those that sold the baby to her.
The missing baby has be handed over to the mother since the suspect did not know where she bought baby.
National Daily gathered from police sources that the victim delivered a baby, three weeks after the baby was missing and the matter was reported to the police who went into action and it paid off.
According to the sources, the suspect with her husband had no child and decided to adopt without going through the right way. They got into negotiation with an undisclosed person who they paid certain amount of money that bought the stolen child and  handed over to them.
The suspect said that she did not know that the baby was stolen from the mother .
The matter has been charged before Ikeja Magistrates court for conspiracy and receiving stolen baby. She pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi granted her bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum.
She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition.
