Zenith Bank deepens financial inclusion drive with new branch in Delta’s Osubi Community
Zenith Bank Plc has strengthened its footprint in Delta State with the inauguration of a new branch in Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area, becoming the first commercial bank to establish operations in the community.
The development underscores the bank’s commitment to expanding financial inclusion and providing accessible banking services to underserved communities, businesses, and residents across the country.
The branch was officially commissioned on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at a ceremony attended by Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, senior government officials, traditional rulers, business leaders, customers, and other stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, Governor Oborevwori described the opening of the branch as a significant endorsement of Delta State’s growing economic prospects and investment climate.
According to the governor, the decision by Zenith Bank to expand its operations in the state reflects confidence in the administration’s efforts to improve infrastructure, promote economic development, and create an enabling environment for businesses.
“This is a clear vote of confidence in the economic potential of our state,” he said. “It demonstrates that the investments we have made in infrastructure, economic development, and ease of doing business are yielding tangible results. When a leading financial institution such as Zenith Bank expands its presence in Delta State, it sends a strong signal that the state is open for business and ready to attract greater investment.”

Governor Oborevwori highlighted the strategic importance of the new branch to the people of Osubi and the wider Okpe Local Government Area, noting that it is currently the only commercial bank operating within the local government.
He said the presence of the bank would significantly enhance economic activities in the area by improving access to financial services for residents, entrepreneurs, traders, and small businesses.
“The significance of this bank to our people cannot be overstated because of the impact it will have on the economy of this local government,” the governor stated.
In her remarks, Zenith Bank’s Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Adaora Umeoji, expressed appreciation to the Delta State Government for its support in fostering private-sector growth and investment.
She particularly commended Governor Oborevwori for donating the land on which the branch was built, describing the gesture as evidence of the administration’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment.
“We are deeply grateful to His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, for his unwavering support and partnership, and for personally commissioning this branch,” she said. “His generous donation of the land on which this branch is built reflects his administration’s dedication to encouraging private-sector investment and ensuring that businesses thrive in Delta State.”
Umeoji also praised the governor’s developmental initiatives, noting that his administration had recorded significant achievements in infrastructure and socio-economic development since assuming office.
The Zenith Bank chief described the Osubi facility as the bank’s 19th branch in Delta State and a major milestone in its long-standing relationship with the state.
She reiterated the institution’s commitment to bringing modern banking services closer to communities that have historically had limited access to financial services.
According to her, the bank remains focused on empowering individuals, entrepreneurs, women-led enterprises, and small and medium-sized businesses through innovative financial solutions, improved access to credit, and capacity-building programmes.
Umeoji expressed confidence that the new branch would stimulate economic growth in Osubi and neighbouring communities by supporting local commerce, encouraging entrepreneurship, and promoting greater participation in the formal financial system.
She added that the branch aligns with Zenith Bank’s broader vision of supporting economic development at both state and national levels through inclusive and sustainable banking services.
The opening of the Osubi branch further strengthens Zenith Bank’s presence in Delta State while advancing efforts to bridge financial access gaps in emerging communities and drive grassroots economic development.
