NSCDC Arrests 13 Suspected Vandals, Impounds 1,800 illegal Drums of Oil in Delta

Operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Delta State on Wednesday arrested in Oleh and Ogwashi-Uku 13 suspected oil pipeline vandals and impounded 1,800 illegal drums of adulterated oil.
Mrs. Beatrice Irabor, the State Commandant of the NSCDC confirmed that the suspects were arrested on a tip-off and the assistance of the vigilante groups in the areas and called for strong synergy between the citizens, the communities and the law enforcement agencies for a better security guaranteed.

She said “the suspects were arrested on a tip-off and with the help of the vigilante groups in the areas, while the illegal drums of oil were intercepted between Ogwashi-Uku and Kwale road by our men” disclosing that the suspects have been handed over to the Police for further investigation.
She said that the driver of the vehicle carrying the illegal drums of oil with registration number AA165XX was also handed over to the Police for further investigation.

While saying that the country was at present facing insecurity, the NSCDC boss further disclosed that security matters have become expedient and a concern of all and not for security agencies alone.
According to her “NSCDC function with protection of lives and property, protection of government infrastructure, supervision of private guards, protection of oil pipelines against vandalism, among other duties” assuring the people of Delta State that the agency will continue to perform its constitutional functions.
