Edo APC crisis deepens as state Nat’l Assembly caucus splits

There is obvious division in the Edo State caucus in the National Assembly over the rift between the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole and Governor Godwin Obaseki.

This followed the position of some of the caucus on Thursday, when it addressed newsmen in Abuja on the lingering rift between Oshiomhole and Obaseki.

The group, which backed the APC national chairman, blamed the governor for the crisis and asked him to issue a fresh proclamation for proper inauguration of the Edo State House of Assembly.

The deputy majority leader of the House of Representatives, Peter Akpatason, who was accompanied by two other members of the House, Julius Ihonvbere and Johnson Oghuma, spoke on behalf of the caucus.

The caucus made their stand known in a statement Akpatason presented to newsmen, which was signed by three others, Senator Francis Alimikhena, Patrick Aisowieren and Dennis ldahosa.

Meanwhile, Aisowieren and Idahosa, it was learnt, later denied knowledge of the press conference, saying they were not signatories to the statement given out.
