North West Governors decries new trend of rising insecurity
From MAINASARA AMINU, Kano
GOVERNORS of the North West states have lamented the rising insecurity in the country. The North West Governors Forum, therefore, urged the Federal Government to employ strict measures against the growing problem of kidnapping, as another form of social insecurity in the country.
Chairman of the Forum, Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State, stated this in a communiqué issued at the end of governors meeting at Kano Government House, Kano State. The governors commended the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari and that of Nigerian Armed Forces for the sustained fight against the Boko Haram insurgents in the North East States.
The states from where the governors were drawn for the North West Forum include Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Jigawa and Kaduna.
They expressed condolence to the Federal Government and the Nigerian Army over the recent kidnapping and killing of Colonel Sama’ila Inusa in Kaduna.

The Forum commended Nigerians for their continued and unflinching support for President Muhammadu Buhari and urged them to continue to pray for his success in the crusade to salvage Nigeria from all forms of socio-economic, security and political challenges bedeviling the country.
The Governors, then, commiserated with the Governments and people of Kano and Kebbi states and indeed, Nigerians, over the recent fire incident at several major Markets.
The Forum reiterated its commitment to the development of the zone by ensuring that processes of adoption and subsequent implementation of policies for speedy development of the zone must take account of the unity of the region within the context of the unity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The Governors finally stressed the need for unity among political leaders and major stakeholders of the zone to continue to support the various state administrations in their efforts towards achieving the lasting peace in the zone and the country at large.
