Boeing 737 plane crashes, uncertainty over 133 passengers on board
A Boeing 737 passenger plane with133 passengers on board was reported to have crashed in southwest China on Monday. China state broadcaster, CCTV, said on Monday that the plane crash triggered ‘a mountain fire with casualties unknown’. The aircraft was identified as a China Eastern airline.
CCTV citing the provincial emergency management bureau, reported that “a Boeing 737 plane crashed in the rural countryside near Wuzhou city, Guangxi region, and “caused a mountain fire.” It added that rescue teams were deployed to the scene of the crash immediately.
According to the CCTV: “China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737 plane carrying 133 people has crashed in Teng county, Wuzhou, Guangxi, and caused a mountain fire.”
Airport staff were cited to have disclosed that the China Eastern airline, MU5735, was yet to arrive its scheduled destination in Guangzhou after it took off from the city of Kunming shortly after 1.00pm (0500 GMT) on Monday.
