President 2023: Why I have not declared for presidential race – Fayemi
Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, in Akure, Ondo State, explained why he has not yet declared for the 2023 presidential race.
Governor Fayemi after a consultation meeting with Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, in Akure, disclosed that he is still consulting with APC and other stakeholders, adding that he will make a decision on joining the race for the APC presidential ticket at the end of his consultation across the country.
Fayemi will be the third presidential aspirant on the platform of the APC from southwest Nigeria when he declares for the presidential race. APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, had earlier declared for the 2023 presidential election on the APC platform.
The Ekiti governor had maintained that Nigeria needs an experienced leader who is capable of improving on the developmental structure of President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2023 presidential election.
Fayemi, however, asserted that he is still consulting with traditional rulers, APC governors and other party stakeholders, adding that thereafter, he will declare officially for the 2023 presidential election. He said he has the capacity to lead and develop Nigeria.
