Ahead of the 2023 General Elections, It’s no longer a news that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is currently the ruling party in Imo State. Governor Hope Uzodinma assumed who office in January 2020 after his Predecessor, Emeka Ihedioha was removed from Office following a Supreme Court Judgement is expected to seek Re-election in 2023. However, Despite the fact that APC has a low popularity in Imo State and the South-East Region at large, Governor Hope Uzodinma might coast home to victory and win re-election in 2023 because of the reason stated below:

First of all, since the 2019 election, the APC has been working hard to expand its membership and strengthen its organization in the state, recognizing its weakness. By ensuring that the party is united, the Governor laid the framework for this. He was instrumental in resolving the party’s overall dilemma. So far, members of the Imo APC are united and devoted to Uzodimma’s re-election

There has been an influx of new members defecting from the PDP and other political parties as a result of the party’s coherence. Thousands of new members have joined the APC from the PDP, according to the Governor. He claimed that as a result, the APC in Imo is now more formidable than it was in 2019.

As a result of this, it shows that the ruling party in the state has been doing it’s homework in ensuring that they retain the state in 2023.
