ASUU strike: University students on rampage, obstruct traffic on Lagos-Ibadan expressway
University students mobilized for mass action, and went on rampage in protest of the prolonged strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) which has kept them at home in the past seven months. The students obstructed the traffic on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, blocking the entry and exit points of the highway on the Lagos corridor, in Mowe axis, Ogun State.
The students, organising themselves under the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), declared that they embarked on the protest to express their plights in the prolonged strike, and demand for immediate end of the industrial dispute between the federal government and ASUU.
Vehicle plying the road on Tuesday were restricted from continuing their journey while many drivers were compelled to seek alternative routes to continue their journeys.
