Security experts call for holistic approach against insecurity
By OKOSUN OKHUELEIGBE
AS Pahek Security in partnership with ARC international rounded off a one-week security management training course, experts are of the view that security awareness cum training should not be limited to only security practitioners in an organisation but other employees should be exposed to such training in order to mitigate risk and vulnerability against emerging security threats.
One of the participants, Abdul Ali, a Security Coordinator, Chevron Nigeria Limited, said the present insecurity in the country coupled with the sophistication of terrorist threats, there was the need to extend security training to other departments outside security unit to mitigate losses.
Speaking with National Daily at the Epe Resorts, Abdul explained that “Before now, some companies narrowed training to security departments, but now it is good that every person in the company is aware of recent trends of threats and security conscious to mitigate attacks. There should be holistic security awareness for other work force with a view to inculcating security training for every employee to mitigate risk and vulnerability.
The Managing Director of Pahek Security Services limited, Charles Keku said the course gave the opportunity to have theoretical and practical training, introduce framework tools for security managers as business enablers and by extension elevate and professionalise security.
Certificates were presented to all the participants by the Head of Department, Private Guards Department, National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Lagos state command, Mr Stephen Apeh and the Executive Producer, Security 24/7, Richard Amuwa.
