Shooting Stars assistant coach, Akin Olowokere slumps, dies during training
Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) assistant coach, Akin Olowokere, passed away on Monday morning after collapsing during a training session at the Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode.
Olowokere, a former player and coach of Sunshine Stars, was among the recently appointed members of the Oluyole Warriors’ technical crew following the exit of the Gbenga Ogunbote-led coaching team.

Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred while the team was preparing for Matchday 2 of the ValueJet Cup 2025.
Olowokere suddenly slumped during training, prompting immediate medical intervention. He was quickly rushed to an undisclosed hospital but could not be revived.
His death has thrown the NPFL club into mourning, with players, fans, and officials expressing shock at the sudden loss of a respected figure in Nigerian football.
Olowokere’s appointment at 3SC was seen as part of the club’s rebuilding efforts ahead of the new NPFL season, making his passing a significant blow to the team’s preparations.
