Lawmaker Returns to APC After Losing NDC Ticket in Kano
A member of the Kano State House of Assembly has defected back to the All Progressives Congress (APC), weeks after failing to secure a return ticket with the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Hon. Muhammad Ahmad Tomas, who represents Makoda Constituency, announced the move on Monday during a visit to Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin at his Abuja residence. He was joined by the chairmen of Makoda and Dambatta Local Government Areas.

Jibrin welcomed the return, calling it “timely and commendable” and pledging that Tomas would enjoy equal opportunities within what he described as Africa’s largest political party.

“Together, we will continue to work tirelessly for the growth and success of our party, Kano North Senatorial District, Kano State, and Nigeria as a whole,” Jibrin said in a statement posted to Facebook.
Tomas had previously left the APC for the NDC, where he was received by former Kano Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. His return comes after losing his bid for the NDC’s legislative ticket ahead of the next election cycle.
