Security operatives in Kwara State have apprehended three prominent leaders of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) over allegations of aiding kidnapping operations and supporting armed bandit groups in the state.

Among those arrested is the state president of MACBAN, Idris Abubakar. The three suspects, all reportedly above 60 years of age, are facing accusations of facilitating multiple abductions and providing both logistical and financial assistance to criminal networks operating within Fulani communities.

According to security sources, preliminary investigations have uncovered evidence suggesting close collaboration between the detained MACBAN officials and armed gangs believed to be behind numerous kidnappings targeting communities and travelers along major highways in the state.

The arrests represent a significant development in ongoing efforts to combat the rising wave of kidnappings and banditry that has plagued several parts of Kwara State in recent months.

Security forces, comprising both military and police units, are currently conducting coordinated operations in known bandit strongholds across the state. These operations aim to dismantle criminal hideouts and restore peace and security to affected areas.

Investigators are continuing their work to identify and apprehend additional collaborators who may have played roles in supporting the criminal activities. The authorities have assured residents of their commitment to bringing all those involved in these crimes to justice.

The development has sent shockwaves through local communities, as MACBAN is a recognized association representing the interests of cattle herders across Nigeria.
