Emergency response teams, assisted by local volunteers, have launched an extensive search operation to capture the reptiles and prevent further danger to residents.

Authorities have advised the public to avoid approaching any snakes and to immediately report sightings to emergency services. At least one person has reportedly been bitten by a snake since the escape.

The snake incident comes amid widespread destruction caused by Typhoon Maysak, which unleashed torrential rainfall across Guangxi and other parts of southern China.

The heavy downpours caused reservoirs to overflow, submerged communities, damaged roads and other infrastructure, and forced thousands of residents to flee their homes.
