Police rescue abducted Ogun prince, neutralise two kidnappers in follow-up operation
Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Ogun State Police Command have rescued the abducted Prince of Okun Owa, Prince Idris, following sustained intelligence-led operations that also led to the neutralisation of two suspected kidnappers and the recovery of weapons and other incriminating items.
The Command disclosed that Prince Idris was kidnapped on June 30, 2026, at about 7:30 p.m. after armed men invaded his residence in Okun Owa and whisked him away.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, immediately ordered the activation of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit and other tactical teams to secure the victim’s release and arrest those responsible.
The police said sustained intelligence gathering and coordinated tactical pressure mounted on the kidnappers forced the gang to release the victim unharmed on July 3, 2026.

Following the successful rescue, operatives intensified efforts to track down the suspects.
Acting on credible intelligence, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit raided the Agoro/Imodi axis, where the suspected kidnappers reportedly opened fire on the operatives upon sighting them.
The police said the officers responded with superior firepower, resulting in a gun battle during which two suspected kidnappers were neutralised, while other members of the gang escaped with gunshot injuries.
A search of the suspects led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, an empty magazine, two mobile phones, a bag suspected to have been used for collecting ransom, and other items believed to be linked to the criminal operation.
The bodies of the deceased suspects have been deposited at a government morgue for autopsy, while efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing gang members and recover additional exhibits.
Commending the officers involved in the operation, CP Bode Ojajuni praised the courage, professionalism and operational efficiency of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and other tactical teams.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to identifying, tracking and dismantling criminal networks operating across Ogun State.
The Commissioner also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to the police, assuring the public that the Command would sustain intelligence-driven policing and robust tactical operations to safeguard lives and property throughout the state.
He encouraged members of the public to promptly report suspicious persons or activities through the Ogun State Police Command’s emergency communication channels.
