THE Ebonyi State governor, Engr David Umahi, has directed that construction work should commence immediately on the Mile 50-Orokeonuoha road within the Abakaliki capital city.
He gave the directive during the foundation laying ceremony/end of year thanksgiving service of the Power House Interdenominational Worship Centre, Abakaliki.
Governor Umahi, who was represented by his deputy, Dr Kelechi Igwe, also commended the General Overseer of the Church, who is also the Chairman, State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Evangelist Ephraim Ononye for being one of the few men of God who prophesied the victory of the Divine Mandate in the last election and had the courage to say it despite persecution from different quarters during electioneering.
The governor restated the commitment of the state government towards partnering with churches as well as getting advices and constructive criticism. Also promised to support for the on-going church building as part of his government contribution to the spread of gospel of Jesus Christ.
In his sermon, the General Overseer, Evangelist Ononye thanked God for using the centre to perform miracles in the lives of people.Evangelist Ononye, who described the church as a home for worshipers from different denominations appreciated the state government under the leadership of Governor Umahi for the tremendous support since the inception of the church four months ago.
While expressing gratitude to Governor Umahi, his deputy, the speaker and other state executive council members for honouring the invitation, Evangelist Ononye promised to continuously pray for the government, its leadership and the good people of the state.
The event was attended by dignitaries from all walks of life including the former state deputy governor, Prof Chigozie Ogbu, Senator representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial zone, Chief Obinna Ogba, Chief Whip of Ebonyi state House of Assembly, Hon Chike Ogiji among others. Highlights of the event was the foundation laying ceremony performed by the governor and the special rendition by the church choir.
