How beer drove RRS into wild goose chase in Lagos

A man got himself drunk to the extent of abandoning his car in a beer parlour, only to report at the police station the following day and claimed that the car was stolen in his house where it was parked.

Some policemen attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) had to grapple with this at the weekend, when Jude did did the unthinkable last Friday.

It was learnt that Jude, a resident of Anthony Village was drunk to the point that he forgot his Toyota Camry 2010 Model at a beer parlour only to wake up around 03:30 a.m. on Saturday morning to misinform the police that his car has been stolen from where it was parked at his residence.

It was gathered that the police swung into action by sending its detectives to investigate the theft in the area.

However, police investigations revealed that no vehicle neither entered the man’s house nor exited the house where the vehicle was allegedly stolen.

National Daily further gathered that disturbed by the allegations and those facts available, the police decided to burrow deeper into the life style of the complainant but were shocked that he is a perpetual drunkard.

As a result, the police investigators decided to visit the beer parlour where the complainant was alleged to have drunk himself to stupor the previous night.

To their amazement, National Daily learnt, the car, a black Toyota Camry 2010 Model, was recovered at 8:08am few meters away from the beer parlour with every part of the vehicle intact.

Subsequently, for given the police wrong information and getting drunk to the point of losing his senses, the police temporarily detained Jude and counselled him before he was allowed to go with his car.

The police, however, used the opportunity to advice and warn Lagos residents to avoid drunkenness.
