Buhari pampering killer herdsmen, says CAN President
Following incessant attack on Christians by Fulani herdsmen in the North, President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Samson Ayokunle has accused President Buhari of indulging the marauding herdsmen because they are from his clan- Fulani.
Speaking at the 12th convocation of Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State at the weekend, Ayokunle said President Muhammadu Buhari has refused to rein in killer herdsmen because they are of his clan.
Ayokunle said whereas the president was devoted to fighting Boko Haram in the northeast, “he has not done anything against the killer herdsmen”. The clergyman said the president’s inaction was “unfortunate”.

He said up till now, no government official had visited the village in Plateau State where 19 people were killed and several others hospitalized. “No action has been taken against these marauding herdsmen. Why?”
“If the President is focusing on Boko Haram in the North-East but has not done anything against the killer herdsmen, that is unfortunate, especially when we know that these Fulani herdsmen are from his ethnic clan”, Ayokunle was quoted as saying over the weekend.
He also claimed to have returned from the mass burial of 19 people slain by Fulani herdsmen in Plateau state.
“I just came from Ancha village in Plateau state, where we had to do a mass burial for 19 people killed by these herdsmen,” he said.
The prevalence of attacks on Christians by Fulani herdsmen and Islamic terrorists groups like Boko Haram are a large reason why Nigeria ranks as the 12th worst country in the world, according to Open Doors USA’s 2017 World Watch List.
At least 19 Christians, including nine children, were massacred and killed by Fulani herdsmen in September during an attack in a Village in Plateau State. At least five other Christians were also injured in the assault and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
