Okorocha’s son-in-law’s supporters clash with deputy governors’
Supporters of Imo Deputy Gov. Eze Madumere clashed with those of Uche Nwosu, chief of staff to Gov. Rocha Okorocha, at Mbaitoli Local Government on Monday, and many were injured in the fracas.
Nwosu, the son-in-law to the state governor, has been anointed as Okorocha’s successor in 2019, and his supporter came to the council hall of Madumere’s local government to endorse him.
According to sources, Nwosu’s supporters, named the I Believe Movement, invited Mbaitoli indigenes through text messages, and the fight ensued as soon as Madumere’s supporter knew what they were up to—endorsing of Okorocha’s son-in-law as APC candidate in 2019.
The indigenes had to call for reinforcement, leading to them having the upper hand over Mwosu’s supporters.
The battle-royal that followed led to injuries, and security men were drafted in to de-escalate the violence.
