Man Utd legend Paul Scholes has backed Manchester City to join an illustrious Premier League club this season under the guidance of Pep Guardiola.
Paul Scholes says he would not be surprised if Manchester City went through the entire Premier League season without losing a match.
The Manchester United legend believes Pep Guardiola’s side have what it takes to replicate the achievements of the Arsenal ‘Invincibles’ who went through the entire 2003-04 league season unbeaten.
City continued their domestic superiority at the weekend as they eased past fierce rivals United with a comfortable 3-1 in the derby fixture.
And speaking after the match Scholes gave his verdict on City’s title chances and revealed he did not envisage seeing them losing a league game this season if they maintain their level of performance.
“We’ve talked about the Arsenal team that went right through the season without losing a game and the more you look at the City team, I don’t see where they are going to get beat,” Scholes told Premier League Productions.
“I watched the game against Wolves and thought it could be a tricky season for them, but ever since then – I know it’s not too many games – I just don’t see who is going to get near them. I don’t see a team who will beat them.
“I think Liverpool will probably be the closest, but I just think they [City] are that good, they are in control.
“You look at the bench as well [against United]. [Gabriel] Jesus not brought on, a brilliant centre-forward, [Ilkay] Gundogan, they bring on, scores a goal. They’ve just got quality in every position.
“I think if they are at it every game, they won’t lose a game.”
