Philip Auta defends Yobe Desert Stars management
Philip Auta has come out in defence of the Abubakar Ago-led management of the NPFL club Yobe Desert Stars following allegations the players have been short changed, National Daily learnt.
“The players’ salaries are paid promptly, we do receive our salaries sometimes 24th every month while sometimes before the last day of the month,” Auta said.
“Ever since I joined the club two seasons ago no one is owing me a kobo, the salary might not as fat as people think but at least we do receive it – traveling allowances, match bonuses, we are not being owed.
“It is what you signed for you that you receive and is not table payment, we are paid directly from the sports ministry.
“We are paid through the bank and so it will difficult to be short changed.”
He added: “Honestly the results are not just forthcoming as expected but the welfare of players is always the priority because our chairman Abubakar Ago is knowledgeable about the football game.”
The results have not been forthcoming this season, but experienced winger Auta said the team are committed to staying up in the top flight.
“We are not distracted but rather focused to ensure we do not drop to the second division,” he maintained
