Army caution Nigerians against campaign of calumny by Islamic Movement
By OKOSUN OKHUELEIGBE
The Nigerian Army has alerted Nigerians of a clandestine campaign of calumny and misinformation being orchestrated by one Dr. Abdullahi Danladi, a high ranking member of Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) and a Lecturer at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria over the incident of 12 December 2015 in Zaria where Shi’ite members blocked the Chief of Army Staff convoy.
The Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman said in Abuja that the University don was at the university on Wednesday soliciting for support and telling concocted lies about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
He said, Dr. Danladi was making “false and unfounded allegations of casualty figures and desecration of burial grounds,” saying that the action of the don was “preposterous and shows lack of concern and respect for peace and tranquillity.”
Col Usman warned that the authority of the “Nigerian Army will not sit back and allow some mischievous elements in the society to further create unnecessary tension and disaffection in the society,” especially as the NA has reported the matter to the appropriate agencies that is already taking necessary action.
He added that, “This attitude (of Dr Danladi) will not be tolerated where people abuse their privileged position to mislead the public, create disaffection.”
While calling for patience and understanding by the Nigerian publics as the outcome of the various enquiries instituted by various government and Non-governmental agencies are being awaited; appealed to Nigerians to caution Dr. Abdullahi Danladi and his cohorts to “desist from telling lies and misrepresentation of facts capable of misleading the general public.”
