National Daily Newspaper gathered that the terrorists stormed the army brigade headquarters at New Marte Sunday night, shooting sporadically.”
Boko Haram insurgents reportedly attacked an army brigade headquarters located in New Marte, a border town in Borno State, on Sunday night, causing significant destruction and casualties.
According to reports gathered by Daily Sun, the terrorists launched their assault on the military base, shooting indiscriminately.
Sources indicated that military troops mounted a strong response, leading to a fierce gun battle that lasted for approximately two hours.
The intense fighting forced many residents of New Marte to flee their homes and seek refuge in Dikwa, a town situated about 30 kilometers away.
While casualty figures are still emerging, reports suggest that at least four military troops are feared dead, and an unspecified number of terrorists were also killed in the exchange.
A survivor recounted that the attack commenced around 1 am and persisted for nearly two hours, adding that dozens of residents sustained injuries during the chaos.

This latest attack highlights the precarious security situation in Borno State, which has been grappling with nearly 15 years of relentless terror attacks.
New Marte, the headquarters of Marte Local Government Area, is strategically located on the western coast of Lake Chad, along Nigeria’s border with the Republic of Chad.
The town has a history of being targeted by Boko Haram, having been captured by the insurgents in 2014 before being liberated by the Nigerian military in 2015.
Since then, New Marte has remained vulnerable to frequent attacks and raids, including an incident last year where some police personnel deployed to the area were killed.
