President Muhammadu Buhari at the African Union summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Saturday, assured that Nigeria is committed to promotion of peace and progress in Africa, including other parts of the world, through consistent support for justice, fairness, and inclusiveness in global affairs.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Femi Adesina, President Buhari in a sideline meeting with the Prime Minister of Palestine, Mohammad Shtayyeh, at the African Union meetings, maintained that Nigeria is unwavering in supporting democracy, development, and good governance, particularly in ensuring the rights of individuals and institutions.
According to the statement, President Buhari asserted, “As a country, we are doing our best, and we will continue doing our best to ensure justice and fairness;” and promised the Palestinian Prime Minister that Nigeria will be “consistent” in pushing for peace and progress, including upholding the tenets of justice.
The Palestinian Prime Minister had stated that the situation in the Middle East, particularly relations with Israel, had deteriorated over the years. He was of the view that the world needs to know the facts.
Shtayyeh commending President Buhari for his leadership role in the continent, declared: “Your Excellency, we thank you for your wisdom. We need it more now. Please continue to stay well and healthy because we need your wisdom.”
