Buhari reassures on free, fair, credible elections in 2023
President Muhammadu Buhari, hosting West African Elders Forum Pre-Election Mediation Mission, led by former Sierra Leonean President, Dr Ernest Bai Koroma, at the State House, Abuja, on Tuesday, reassured his commitment to free, fair and credible elections in 2023, saying any form of manipulation of the electoral process will not be allowed.
The President, citing the successful conduct of off-season elections in Anambra, Ekiti and Osun States, reaffirmed that his administration would allow people to choose the leaders they want.
The President, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, declared that people should vote for whomever they want, in whatever party, insisting, “we shall not allow anyone to use money and thugs to intimidate the people.”
The President noted that elections are even more difficult to rig now, adding that Nigerians are now better informed and know that the advantages of dialoguing, outweighs carrying of weapons.
