Buni vows to arrest attackers of Gurjaje community, commiserates state varsity over inferno

The Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni vowed to arrest attackers of the Gurjaje community in Fika Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday.

Buni vowed that his administration would not rest in pursuing the attackers, adding that “they will be pursued and defeated by the grace of God.”

The Governor commiserated with the people of the community over the attack which took place on Tuesday by “some intruders into the state.”

As contained in a statement by his spokesperson, Mamman Mohammed, Buni said security measures have been upscaled, and currently yielding positive results.

He said: “The government in collaboration with security agencies and vigilante groups, has taken more measures to ensure peace and security in the area.”

National Daily Newspaper gathered  that over 1,000 persons were displaced while properties worth millions of Naira, including houses and food stores were destroyed during the attack.

The governor has equally directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to provide relief materials to the victims of the attack.

On another note, Governor Buni has also commiserated with the students and management of the Yobe State University over the recent inferno that razed the institution’s female hostel.

While describing the incident as unfortunate and sad, Buni appreciated God that no life was lost in the fire incident.

He said: “We remain grateful that in spite of the huge fire that razed down the hostel completely, no life was lost.

“SEMA is hereby directed to provide food, clothing, and beddings while the government looks for alternative accommodation for the female students.”
