Check out 2 things that could affect the chance of Seyi Makinde in 2023
Without a doubt, the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, is one of the best governors in Nigeria, as this man has been doing a great job ever since he came to power, by building infrastructure, paying salaries of civil servants, and so on.
Seyi Makinde, who seems to wish to have a second term, is vying for it as he is currently playing his game in a way that would boost his chances of becoming the party flag bearer once again and winning the general election.
However, currently in Oyo state, there are some things that are happening that may affect the second term of Seyi Makinde if care is not taken.
Firstly, the issue of the hijab is one of the things that Governor Seyi Makinde should be careful about if he wants to boost his chances in Oyo state, where Muslims seem to dominate.
He initially made a statement that appeared to appease Muslims by claiming that Muslim students should not be harassed for wearing hijab in public schools, but after a few days, he remade another statement that said Muslim students should only wear hijab in Muslim public schools, prompting Muslim groups, led by MURIC and others, to vow that they would wait until 2023 to campaign against Makinde, with “No Hijab, No Vote,” in order to dry up Makinde’s second chance ambition.
The second thing is the insecurity in Oyo’s state. There are many Oyo state residents who have been complaining about the rise of thuggery attacks in the state, especially the recent one that happened in which some thuggery, believed to be led by Mukaila Auxiliary, who has a lot of connections with Governor Seyi Makinde, invaded the house of the popular Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Igboho.
