Chelsea Sale: Why other premier league clubs are worried about the Chelsea takeover
Chelsea are drawing closer to a potential new ownership of the club, as the Raine Group who is overseeing the whole sales process of the club, and are set to release a shortlist of three or four parties that they consider to be the preferred bidders, they would now proceed to get a government license for the sale to go through.
The blues has been plunge into crisis since the sanctions were imposed on the club, as they were restricted to only operating as a club, by fulfilling their match day fixtures, but they were not permitted to do some things, which involves not selling match day tickets to fans, not spending more than £20,000 on away travels, and other restrictions.
But Chelsea are looking to come very strongly out of the situation surrounding the club at the moment, and other Premier League clubs are concerned about it.
In this article, we will be writing on the reasons why other Premier League clubs could be worried about the Chelsea takeover.
The Unfair Advantage Of Chelsea’s Debt Written Off
Chelsea are set to be debt free after the takeover of the club, as Roman Abramovich has agreed that he won’t be asking for the debt the club owed him, which is worth £1.5 billion.
This has raised concern from other Premier League clubs, with the unfair advantage Chelsea would have for being debt free.
The Telegraph reported that in a call convened by the Premier League, all representatives of other 19 Premier League clubs were informed of the situation of Chelsea, by Bruce Buck the chairman of Chelsea.
The general consensus from other Premier League representatives was that, the new owners of the club would benefit from not having to pay the £1.5 billion loan that was owed by the club, and they see that as an unfair advantage that the club would have over the rest of the other teams.
Chelsea might be able to spend more funds in investing on their squads than other Premier League clubs, and would be free to open up a fresh loan from financial institutions, without fears of breaching any financial fair play rules.
Do you think other Premier League clubs are afraid that they could struggle to compete financially with Chelsea after the takeover of the club?
