Court jails carpenter 3 months for assaulting wife.
An Upper Area Court in Jos on Thursday, sentenced a 52-year-old carpenter, Kelechi Nwosu, to three months imprisonment for assaulting his wife.
A panel of two Magistrates, made up of Malam Ghazali Adam and Mr Hyacinth Dolnaan, sentenced Nwosu after he pleaded guilty to assaulting his wife.
Adam and Dolnaan in their judgment, did not give the convict an option to pay a fine.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Monday Dabit told the court that the case was reported on Feb.10 at the ‘B’ Division Police station by Ms Ngozi Kelechi, the complainant.
Dabit said that the convict seized his wife’s cell phones, beat her up and inflicted injuries on her.
He also said that the convict threatened to kill his wife.
The prosecutor further told the court that during police investigation, the phones were recovered from the convict.
He said that the offence is punishable under the provisions of sections 237, 242, 376 of the Plateau Penal Code law.
