Crises: Nigeria must remain indivisible, varsity chancellor warns
By Anolu Vincent
A Clarion call has been made to all Nigerians to work towards ensuring that the country despite her current socio-economic and political challenges does not disintegrate as the unforeseen consequences of such disintegration might be too severe for everybody.
The Obi of Obinugwu and Chancellor, Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, HRH, Eze (Dr) Cletus Ilomuanya stated this in Owerri, after returning from a familiarization visit to the University as its pioneer Chancellor. He admonished that despite ethno-religious and linguistics differences among Nigerians, there is no alternative country for Nigerians, pointing out that “no sacrifice made to keep the indivisibility of Nigeria intact as a nation will be too much”.
The monarch, who is also the Chairman of South East Council of Traditional Rulers, equally appealed to Nigerians to be patient with President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
He explained that Buhari is barely six months in office as President, stressing that it would be hasty to pass judgment on him at the moment.
“I am sure Mr. President means well for Nigeria. He is not there to amass wealth considering his background. He has been a former Head of State, Minister of Petroleum and held several top positions in the past.
“He has a vision and good blue print for a better Nigeria. Out of over 170 million Nigerians, God chose him to be President. He didn’t become President for a jamboree. I think he means well. Lets give him a chance”, Eze Ilomuanya explained.
