The 14th Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II, following an evaluation of current developments in the nation, expressed that Nigerians tolerate excessive nonsense from politicians who underestimate them.

He encouraged Nigerians to resist being cowed by the president or governors in any manner.

In a widely circulated video, Sanusi conveyed his suggestion that the public should stand firm in the face of political leaders’ attempts at intimidation.

Sanusi highlighted the significance of holding politicians accountable, stressing that failing to do so could jeopardize the prospects of future generations for a viable country to call their own.

The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, emphasized that not all Nigerians engaged in politics, but this lack of political involvement should not relegate them to an inferior status.

He expressed concern over the prevalence of fear among Nigerians within their comfort zones.

He articulated, “We must not permit intimidation from individuals simply because they hold presidential or gubernatorial positions.

Nor should we be silenced in expressing our opinions when these individuals err.”

Sanusi noted, “Our paths in life may differ. While I could have pursued a political career and held influential positions, my choice to abstain from politics does not diminish my humanity.

This principle should resonate with all Nigerians.”
