Edo Govt to Okpebholo: Focus on N5bn inauguration, stop targeting Obaseki
The Edo State Government has urged Governor-elect Sen. Monday Okpebholo and his team to prioritize preparations for their N5 billion inauguration ceremony instead of engaging in what it described as “petty politics” involving Governor Godwin Obaseki.
In a statement, Crusoe Osagie, Special Adviser on Media Projects to Obaseki, criticized the incoming administration for focusing on an extravagant event rather than planning for effective governance.
Osagie expressed disappointment over the exclusion of Governor Obaseki from the guest list for the November 12 event, interpreting it as an early signal of divisive politics.

He also highlighted that the new administration’s initial financial outlay raises concerns about a return to excessive spending, contrasting with Obaseki’s tenure, which he said was marked by prudent fiscal management and economic development.
He further dismissed accusations by Okpebholo’s camp that hinted at mismanagement in the transition, stating that Obaseki’s administration ensured an orderly transfer without any looting or property damage.
According to Osagie, the incoming government’s narrative seems aimed at discrediting Obaseki rather than acknowledging the smooth handover.
