Flood unearths the dead in Yobe cemetery
The popular NEPA cemetery in Potiskum, Yobe, has turned to a watery graveyard thanks to a flood that swept over the area August 16.
Community members have called on the state and individuals to help in providing diggers, spades, wheelbarrows, cement and other construction materials to rehabilitate the cemetery.
The community is ready for work, some of them indicated.
This is the second time the flood would not allow the dead to rest in the state. In July, a graveyard located in Low Cost, Gashu’a town was also flooded, washing up the graves.
The ravages of global warming, including flooding, have rendered human and vegetation vulnerable this year.
The science has warned it could be worse in about two decades to come.
