Former presidential aide, Dr. Doyin Okupe, dies at 72
Dr. Doyin Okupe, a distinguished physician and seasoned politician, has passed away at the age of 72.
A man of immense influence in both the medical and political spheres, Dr. Okupe served as a former presidential aide and was widely respected for his contributions to Nigeria’s public service.
In the weeks leading up to his passing, concerns over his health had mounted as close associates revealed that he was critically ill.

His declining condition drew widespread sympathy from family, friends, and political allies.
According to sources, Dr. Okupe succumbed to cancer after a prolonged and courageous battle.
Reports indicate that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer 16 years ago, a condition that led to numerous health challenges, including sarcoma in his right shoulder.
In October 2023, he was hospitalized due to complications related to prostate cancer and was later flown to Israel for advanced treatment.
Unfortunately, despite these efforts, his condition continued to deteriorate.
Throughout his lifetime, Dr. Okupe remained a resilient and committed public servant.
His career, spanning medicine and politics, was defined by an unwavering dedication to the betterment of society.
His passing marks the end of an era, leaving a significant void in the sectors he passionately served.
As tributes pour in from across the nation, he will be remembered for his legacy of service, his contributions to Nigerian politics, and his relentless fight against illness.
