Giwa FC targets Salami, Udoji, three others
A source close to the camp of Giwa Football Club of Jos says the club’s owner, Ambassador Chris Giwa is unhappy that the club missed the opportunity to secure a continental ticket at the end of last season and therefore wants to strengthen the squad ahead of the new season.
According to the source, players under consideration includes NPFL last season’s top scorer Gbalohan Salami, Enyimba of Aba captain and defender Chinedu Udoji, Sunshine Stars winger Dele Olorundare, Kano Pillars center forward, Gambo Mohammed, and Nasarawa United midfielder Manir Ubale.
“Giwa is sad that his club missed chance to secure continental ticket, therefore he has decided to strengthen the club squad by targeting Gbolahan Salami of Warri Wolves who emerged top scorer in the last edition of Nigerian Premier League with 17 goals, Gambo Mohammed of Kano Pillars, a strong and powerful center forward who has scored 70 goals in 200 games for Pillars, Chinedu Udoji a solid defender who played a vital role in bringing stability to Enyimba FC’s back four.
“He is also interested in signing Manir Ubale former Kano Pillars winger and now with Nasarawa United, who was the main ingredient and engineer in helping Nasarawa United to secure a continental ticket and Sunshine Stars’ Dele Olorundare who scored 34 goals in 60 games. When you add these players with your current squad they will be a joy to watch and they will bring entertainment to the fans,” the source said.
